On May 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., we were honored to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nikoniko Home Care at Stanley Park Pavilion in Vancouver, Canada, with approximately 70 guests in attendance.
The celebration began with opening remarks by founder Yuko, followed by warm congratulatory messages from the Honourable Anne Kang, British Columbia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. Consul Tanaka from the Consulate-General of Japan in Vancouver then offered a toast to mark the beginning of the festivities.
We are deeply grateful to Minister Anne Kang for her longstanding support of Nikoniko Home Care, especially our brain training programs, including generously providing venues for our community activities over the years.
We were especially honored to welcome our very first client and to recognize staff members who have dedicated ten years of service to our organization.
A touching 17-minute commemorative video created by our former manager, Kimi, beautifully captured our journey. It reminded us of the challenges of our early days and the resilience we demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the second half of the event, West Coast Healthy Memory Society, our sister NPO, led an engaging brain training session, with all participants joining in enthusiastically.
The program also featured a live connection with one of our group homes and a demonstration of “Coroyawa cushion mat.” The celebration concluded with everyone singing “Sukiyaki (Ue o Muite Arukō)” together in both Japanese and English.
With the heartfelt words, “Let’s meet again in another ten years,” our joyful celebration came to a close.
These ten years would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our clients, their families, our staff, and the broader community. We extend our deepest gratitude to all of you.
We remain committed to serving as an essential part of the community and to continuing to provide high-quality care and support. We sincerely appreciate your continued interest in and support of Nikoniko Home Care.
